“Endorsement of Otterbox”

Today’s blog is an endorsement of a wonderful product, namely the Otterbox.  For those of you unfamiliar with the Otterbox, you may be intrigued by this post!  For those of you who own the Otterbox, in particular the Otterbox Defender, I can only assume that you will be in full support of this blog!

An Otterbox is the premiere cell phone case for the iPhone.  It is almost as expensive as the iPhone itself, but completely worth it.  Let me tell you why.  About a week ago, I purchased my first iPhone (happy birthday to me!).  I was enjoying it like nobody’s business.  Then, on Thursday September 15th, 2011, it happened.  I was heading to Zumba class (which I love and hardly get to go to because of my kids’ activities on Thursday night) and my youngest son Nick wanted to come with me and go in the gym’s playroom.  I said sure.  We go to the car, and I set my brand new iPhone SAFELY on my trunk, and buckle the little guy into his carseat.  I stand up and go to get my precious wonderful iPhone, and it’s gone!!  I can’t believe it!  I look up immediately, assuming a hawk has stolen it.  But I don’t see any hawks in the sky.  Where could it have gone?  Then, I look down.  Yes, sadly, there it was on the concrete driveway.  It did not survive the fall.  It was very sad.  In fact, I would’ve taken a picture of it with my new iPhone, had it not been my iPhone on the ground.  I did not have the Otterbox case yet. I took a deep breath, and decided that life does go on.  I drove to Zumba, take Nick to the playroom, and he refuses to stay in the playroom.  I have to leave the gym without going to Zumba class. Can you believe that this story got worse?  So we head home and I call Verizon first and get insurance on my phone (which was allowed since my purchase was less than 30 days).  Then I hypothetically ask them what I do with a damaged, cracked iPhone.  They said my reimbursable amount is $169 and I get a new phone.  $169!!  That was more than I paid for the iPhone!!  What is the point of insurance?

So what to do, what to do.  I decide to call my Apple expert friends, Matt and Heather.  They have iPhones, iPads, and iPods.  They said “Go to the Apple store at the village.  They will help you.”  So I did.  I explained what happened to the wonderful Apple guy at the Genius Bar, and he hooked me up with a new phone, for free!!!  I then went straight to the Verizon kiosk and bought the Otterbox case, and now my iPhone is safely secured in plastic and silicone! What a wonderful ending to a terrible story (except for the part where I missed Zumba class!)

Have a great day everyone!
