Research Opportunities for High School Students
Dr. Kacey Marra is interested in providing opportunities for high school students in western Pennsylvania to shadow our researchers. This program results in increasing awareness of biomedical research to high school students. It is our hope that these students, particularly female students, become aware of the opportunities available in science and engineering. ROHSS involves a one-day shadowing experience in the lab. Additional opportunities in Pittsburgh include a high school program offered by the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative: http://www.ptei.org/interior.php?pageID=53

I was reading over the lecture notes for Westinghouse tomorrow and noticed this opportunity. I read more about the program and the lab online, and determined that this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I can’t wait to apply; please keep me in mind!
I just attended Dr. Marra’s lecture at the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute and grew to be extremely interested in the subject. I would like to know more about the research opportunities offered, and information would be appreciated!
Thank You.
Dr. Marra, this opportunity is one of a kind chance for high school students to get a glimpse of what one can expect in the medical field and the wonderful advances in medicine. I, like the two responses before me, am extremely interested after hearing your lecture at Westinghouse. Please email me with more information!
Thank you very much!!

Dr. Marra, I have heard about your program through a friend and I am extremely interested in learning more about the research opportunities offered and any information that could be provided.
Thank you.
Dr. Marra, I was at the Westinghouse lecture today and talked to you after it. I find tissue engineering and stem cell research extremely intereseting and would love to have a chance to learn much more about the research that is going on. Please let me know more about this opportunity. Thank You! -Alyssa Sartore
I also heard you speak at the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute. I have recently become very interested in the topic of biomedical engineering, specifically tissue engineering. I would very much appreciate more information about this wonderful opportunity. Thank you very much.
Dr. Marra,
I recently attended your lecture at Westinghouse. I am really interested in this research opportunity and I am very eager to apply! I would greatly appreciate any additional information. Thank you!
Dr. Marra, I talked to you after the Westinghouse lecture and am very interested in tissue engineering and stem cells. I would like to learn more about this opportunity, please send me some information. Thank You.

Dr. Marra,
I spoke with you about ROHSS briefly after your lecturing at Westinghouse. I am so passionate about the medical field and extremely interested in any oppotunity that I can get to expand my knowledge. I am planning on a career in medical research, and I feel participating in your ROHSS program would be a wonderful experience. Please let me know of any additional information. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Kira Hydock
Dr. Marra,
I also attended your lecture at Westinghouse this past Saturday and spoke with you afterward. The lecture was extremely interesting and confirmed my interests in medical research- I believe this research program would be a wonderful opportunity. Please send me information about ROHSS.
Thank You!

Dr. Marra,
I was a member of the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute for the 2009/2010 session, and attended your talk on Fat-Derived Adult Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering Applications. I found this topic most fascinating and very relevant to society today especially in the treatment of injured American soldiers. I have been giving considerable thought to the information you provided in your talk and have decided I would like to learn more about this area as a possible career choice. I feel an internship in your Tissue Engineering Lab at the University of Pittsburgh would be a wonderful opportunity. I would appreciate your fowarding the application material to me.
Thank you!

Dr. Marra,
I was a student at the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute over the 09-10 session and was most looking forward to your presentation. I went on a field trip to the McGowan Institute of Regenerative Medicine as a freshman and ever since I have been trying to find programs to foster my interest. I would love any information you could provide about your ROHSS program.
Thank you very much,
Olivia
Dear Dr. Marra,
I briefly spoke with you about the ROHSS program in March following your lecture at Westinghouse. I was still very much interested in participating in the program and would love to have access to any information you currently have on it.
Thank you very much!
Kira Hydock
Dr. Marra,
I was wondering if there is any additional information you could send to me regarding the ROHSS program as I would love to apply to learn more about Regenerative Medicine!
Thanks,
