Yen Chih Lin, PhD

Post-Doctoral Fellow

I received my PhD degree with the Animal Science Department of National Chung-Hsing University in Taiwan. My main area of interest is the application of stem cells in tissue engineering. The proposed topic of my PhD dissertation was to evaluate the use of copolymer scaffold produced as natural by-products to mimic target matrices. I have obtained excellent results of in vitro cell culture of the 3D scaffold and in vivo cartilage tissue engineering for treatment of cartilage defects in animal models (rat and swine). In the mean time, I also studied the relationship between adipose stem cell and synthetic biomaterials. Moreover, I have examined not only bio-polymer scaffold processes, but also characterizations of different materials and stem cells.

Current Research Projects:

  1. Adipose-derived stem cell and in vitro bioreactor technologies.
  2. Polymer guides and microspheres for long-term neurotrophic growth factors applied in long gap nerve repair.
